the difference between men and women

Men and women differ from each other in many ways. One obvious thing that sticks out is that men tend to be much less careful about their health than women are about theirs. But, according to many experts, just the fact that they've been born male puts men at higher risk of many non-gender specific illnesses compared to women.

Real Men get ill too

With the possible exception of 'man-flu' (!), it is a sad fact that men tend to ignore their symptoms and put off getting treatment until they absolutely have to (or have been nagged to). Often by then their condition has become quite serious.

The machismo culture so prevalent in today's society, coupled with the 'big boys don't cry' up-bringing all too familiar to the older generation, has made it difficult for many men to talk about themselves and their health. It's as if they think that admitting to feeling ill is a sign of weakness. Consequently, they tend not to visit their GP very often or have regular health checks.

The fact is that taking an active role in your own health and well-being not only prolongs your life but improves the quality of it too. And that holds true whether you're male or female.

Men and Homeopathy

If going to the GP is a sign of weakness, many men would probably feel even more of a big girl's blouse going to see someone who practices an alternative therapy. Yet the homeopathic approach is excellent for men. We don't ask direct, intrusive or potentially embarrassing questions but instead encourage the patient to describe, in their own words and at their own pace, whatever physical, mental, emotional or sexual problem is bothering them.

In the vast majority of cases, the treatment is a no-nonsense one-off pill that kick-starts the body's natural healing ability.

Men's troubles

Anxiety and fear of failure can often result in impotence and erectile dysfunction and it's not just physical health that suffers.

Often from the male perspective the body is seen as some sort of complex machine, made up of a collection of separate parts. Often the tendency is to ignore those parts labelled 'emotional' and to concentrate instead on the physical. But there is a clear connection between what's going on in our head and what happens to our body. Blushing, for example, is the familiar physical reaction to feeling embarrassed. Homeopathy addresses mental and emotional issues, as well as the physical, at the same time. This is why more and more men are turning to homeopathic treatment.
